DPRK Officials Help Inhabitants in Flood-Stricken Areas
Officials of Ministries and National Institutions Turn out in Work to Recover from Flood Damage Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- Officials of the ministries and national institutions conducted the work to recover from flood damage in the Rungrado Recreation Ground in Pyongyang on Sunday. The recreation ground was hard hit by the flood. Roadways, footways and lawns of the recreation ground were covered with at least 30000 cubic meters of sand and mud and more than 1000 trees fell down and roads were destroyed due to the recent torrential rain. Mud was carried away by vehicles from Panwol Islet and roads were washed. Officials of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, the Secretariat of the Cabinet, the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Education, the Central Prosecutors' Office, the Academy of Koryo Medical Science and many other units distinguished themselves in carrying out their assignments to recover from the flood damage as quickly as possible. Officials of Kim Il Sung Higher Party School, the University of National Economics, Kum Song University of Politics, the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, the Publishing House of Literature and Art and other units proved successful in the work to remove thick mud and sand, transplant turfs and keep roadside trees in good order.
